On Tuesday, 28th October 2025, Yplant Youth Club Aberdare hosted its very first youth meeting at RCCG Vineyard Chapel, Aberdare. Facilitated by Olufemi David Ajani, the event brought together 10 young people (aged 10–17) for an exciting day of introductions, discussions, games, and team-building activities.
The session began with a warm welcome and breakfast, followed by an introduction to Y Plant Affricanaidd and its work with BAME communities and families with no recourse to public funds. Young participants shared their ambitions, interests, and ideas on issues affecting young people in the UK — including mental health, career uncertainty, and community support.
Through group discussions and interactive games, participants identified key challenges and proposed solutions such as creating local youth-led businesses like hairdressing and barbing salons, and providing apprenticeship opportunities for young people to support their families.
The meeting concluded on a lively note with VR games, dancing, and singing, fostering a sense of belonging and excitement among the youth.
The team plans to improve future meetings with more refreshments and recreational materials, ensuring continuous engagement and growth.
Yplant Youth Club Aberdare is committed to empowering young people from diverse backgrounds and creating a safe space where their voices are heard and valued.
